Campus & Community Involvement

There are various opportunities to get involved with the LGBTQIA community of St. Lawrence University and the local area. This page includes a list of campus and community organizations available for getting involved.

On-Campus Student Group

Currently, St. Lawrence University has one student-run LGBTQIA advocacy group. This student group meets regularly throughout the semester and participates in various events such as Pride Week. All students are encouraged to get involved.

Spectrum Pride Alliance

Spectrum is a group whose mission is facilitating a stronger LGBTQIA community on St. Lawrence’s Campus that works towards having a safe, inclusive, and informed campus for all people. This group hopes to provide space for people to share their views, ask questions, and find resources. These resources include pamphlets, books, web information, and a sense of community to provide support. Activism is also a major component of any social justice group or organization. For Spectrum this means raising awareness around LGBTQIA people and issues, joining other social movements in solidarity with their cause, and representing those who historically have had their voices silenced. Spectrum is a place for all people regardless of age, class, race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, or spirituality.

Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley

The Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley is a consortium of local colleges and universities. The consortium has four members: SUNY Canton, Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam, and St. Lawrence University. Along with St. Lawrence University, the member institutions have student-run LGBTQ advocacy groups that are frequently involved in the local LGBTQIA community.
