Ancestry.com

The St. Lawrence University Libraries now have a subscription to Ancestry.com  With this database, we have the ability to search for individuals through an array of public records—things like the census, military service information, marriage and death records—as well as newspapers, and other kinds of local publications.

SLU’s own Gridiron is part of the Ancestry.com database (try a search on a legacy name!).  Family histories and other collections of ephemeral material are another important part of the collection, and can provide insights and images. The popularity of Ancestry.com reflects its utility, and with the addition of this database we now offer the community a method for creating a composite sketch of a person through a comprehensive collection of public records.
