Recreational Reading

Winter Break provides a good opportunity to think about the time at hand for holiday reading.  Along with everything that one can find by walking the stacks of ODY or Launders, we have two collections specific to recreational reading: the Browsing Collection and OverDrive at SLU.  The Browsing Collection is located next to the Frank and Anne Piskor Reading Room, and is made up of new and notable books—including titles on current events, history, biography, fiction (including short stories), poetry, food, and titles pertinent to the sciences.  Browsing books circulate for four weeks (for SLU students and staff).  We also have access to OverDrive at SLU, a large collection of electronic books including many popular authors and a comprehensive range of genres.  OverDrive is accessible from our E-Books page, and information on how to access OverDrive from different devices is available.   OverDrive has recently announced OverDrive Read, “With OverDrive Read, you can read eBooks right in your browser with a single click—no software or downloads required.”  You will need to create an OverDrive Account to access the titles, but there is no cost associated with this account…
