SLU Libraries - ODY and Launders Science Library have an extensive number of books, journals and other resources that deal with cultural and historical as well as scientific background about the North Country and the Adirondacks.

Adirondack Museums and Historical Sites

Adirondack Research Resources Online - An great list of online resources maintained by The Kelly Adirondack Center at Union College.

Adirondack Almanack (Adirondack Explorer) - The Adirondack Almanack's contributors include veteran local writers, historians, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the Adirondack region. The Almanack is the online news journal of Adirondack Explorer. Both are nonprofits supported by contributors, readers, and advertisers, and devoted to exploring, protecting, and unifying the Adirondack Park.

Adirondack Journal - A fairly limited, but useful list of environmental organizations.

The New York History Blog - "Historical new and views from the Empire State."  This is a blog and doesn't purport to be an academic source but publishes posts by some reliable writers.
