Rhythm & Roots: Country Gospel/Classic Country

Singers, steel players, pianists, lead players, rhythm guitarists, drummers, upright bass players, fiddle and mandolin players!

The Rhythm and Roots ensemble explores country gospel music and classic country in the Spring.  Familiarity with traditional, country  modes of expression -- playing and singing -- is expected.  Further, you’ll note the importance of harmony singing in the cuts below.  Singers are welcome to sing any of the parts, harmony or lead.

Auditions for the Spring '14 Rhythm and Roots Ensemble (Country Gospel/Classic Country) are Wednesday, January 22 (first week of classes) beginning at 6PM in Noble Center 001 (Launders Underground).  Contact Michael Farley (mfarley@stlawu.edu) for an audition time.

Come to your appointed audition time prepared to sing or play along with one of the following tunes.

We're going to "keep it country" and we're gonna have a ball!

It’s likely we will perform in several venues but our on-campus performance takes place Thursday, April 24, at 8 pm.  We’ll be joined in that performance by noted Nashville instrumentalist, Tony Shaffer.
