Volunteers who donated blood during a drive on campus October 7 helped the American Red Cross exceed its goal for collection, with 71 units collected. The goal was 63 units.
Members of SLUACT, with advisor Stacey Sommerfield, helped to organize, raise awareness and recruit donors to the drive. Linda M. Belton, account manager with American Red Cross Blood Services in Syracuse, stated, "Their efforts and the caring spirit of St. Lawrence University donors helped us collect 71 units of blood, exceeding the 63 unit goal for this drive. I want to publically thank the St. Lawrence campus community for supporting the Red Cross and our life-saving mission. We experienced low donor turnout in the months of August and September. These blood units will help sustain hospital inventories and make sure hospital patients receive blood when they need it."
