Charlotta Chung '08, of Clifton Park, NY, participated in the Roosevelt Policy Expo 2007 in Washington, D.C. in July. It is an event of the Roosevelt Institute, the only "think tank" devoted to public policy written by students.

Chung gave a presentation published in the Institute's "25 Ideas for Working Families in America," on ways to combat child poverty in New York State. It is the same topic Chung addressed in her proposal for the Truman Fellowship, which she won.

Chung, a sociology and government major, participated in St. Lawrence's program of study in Denmark in the spring and is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary. She was awarded a 2006 University Fellowship, researching the topic "In God We Trust: Examining the Role of Faith-Based Organizations in Community." Chung is president of the University's Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and a community mentor in the Center for Civic Engagement and Leadership. She has participated in an internship with the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services and has also studied in China.
