Lorrie Moore, author and 1978 St. Lawrence University graduate, recently received the International Fiction Prize in the 1999 Irish Times Literature Prizes, awarded in Dublin.

Moore is an English professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and the author of the acclaimed short-story collections Birds Of America, Self-Help and Like Life, plus the novels Anagrams and Who Will Run The Frog Hospital?

Other winners of this year's prizes included Seamus Heaney, for poetry. Moore was the only American winner.
