Marion Roach Smith '77

A book by Trustee Marion Roach Smith '77, The Memoir Project: A Thoroughly Non-Standardized Text on Writing & Life has been published by Grand Central Publishing.

Smith states, "For 14 years, to more than 800 students, I've taught what I call 'Writing What You Know,' since that's what memoir requires; it's as simple - and as complicated - as that."

Also the author of The Roots of Desire: The Myth, Meaning and Power of Red Hair (2005), Another Name for Madness and Dead Reckoning: The New Science of Catching Killers, she regularly provides commentaries for National Public Radio's "All Things Considered." Smith has written for The New York Times Magazine, Prevention, Vogue, Good Housekeeping and The Los Angeles Times, among other publications, and is on Martha Stewart Living Radio (Sirius 112/XM 157) seven days per week. In addition, she writes for the blog The Sister Project, co-founded with her sister, Margaret.
