Also the author of The Roots of Desire: The Myth, Meaning and Power of Red Hair (2005), Another Name for Madness and Dead Reckoning: The New Science of Catching Killers, she regularly provides commentaries for National Public Radio's "All Things Considered." Smith has written for The New York Times Magazine, Prevention, Vogue, Good Housekeeping and The Los Angeles Times, among other publications, and is on Martha Stewart Living Radio (Sirius 112/XM 157) seven days per week.
