A presentation by Shelley Kandola '13 was chosen as an Outstanding Presentation by the judges of the undergraduate poster session of the Joint Mathematics Meeting held in San Diego in January.

Only 50 Outstanding Presentation awards were given, from about 300 presentations.

Kandola's presentation was titled "A Paradoxical Decomposition of the Real Number Line," and was the result of Senior-Year Experience research conducted with Associate Professor of Mathematics Sam Vandervelde.

A computer science and mathematics major, Kandola is from Pembroke, Mass., and is a graduate of Falmouth Academy. She is a member of the mathematics honor society Pi Mu Epsilon.
