Beta Beta Beta Honorary Induction
Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta), the biology honorary held fall inductions on Friday October 1st in the Lobby of the Johnson Hall of Science. The six new members initiated during the ceremony were (L to R on picture) Eddie Richter ’12, Erin Siracusa ’12, Mallory Sprague ’11, Caitlin Estes ’11, Nora Bachman ’12, and Brendon Miller (December ’10).
The aims of Beta Beta Beta are to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences. To that end, the Alpha Iota Chapter at St. Lawrence sponsors panel discussions and other scientific outreach events throughout the academic year. Recent panel topics include: ‘Summer Research Opportunities on- and off-campus” and ‘Studying Abroad as a Science Major’. In addition, members host a Karaoke fundraiser every spring to benefit a local charity and help organize Brain Blast, an annual science outreach event open to the surrounding community aimed at communicating the importance of brain research.
Inductions are held every fall and spring semesters; Biology, Biochemistry, Conservation Biology and Neuroscience majors are eligible to apply.
