Joe Alvin '11 attends 2011 Experimental Biology meeting
Joseph W. Alvin (Neuroscience ’11) recently presented his senior research at the 2011 Experimental Biology Meeting in Washington, D.C. The title of Joe’s presentation was ‘Effects of cerium oxide nanoparticles on wild-type and superoxide dismutase deletion mutant strains of Caenorhabditis elegans’ and included Dr. Estevez and Dr. Joe Erlichman as co-authors. Alvin began these studies last summer with funding provided by a St. Lawrence University fellowship. He will be pursuing graduate studies at Vanderbilt University this coming fall.
Experimental Biology is the annual meeting of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology which represents six sponsoring societies, including the American Physiological Society. Nearly 13,000 scientists participated in this year’s meeting.
