North Country Public Radio Wins Two National Broadcast Awards
North Country Public Radio's news team was honored with two 2009 National Edward R. Murrow Awards recently by The Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). NCPR's series The Impact of War at Home won in the continuing coverage category and Native Americans in Baseball's Present and Past won for best sports reporting. Both entries received regional Murrow awards in April, as well as top honors from Public Radio News Directors, Inc. (PRNDI) in June.

New Volume Edited By Alum And Late Prof
The Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) has released the third edition of The Adirondack Reader, a collection of writings that spans more than 400 years of the region's history and literature and reflects changing attitudes toward wilderness. Edited by the late Paul Jamieson, who was emerticus professor of English, with University Editor Neal Burdick '72, this edition includes the work of some 30 new writers as well as the classic entries of Adirondack explorers and philosophers for which the book is known. A 32-page color insert features classic and contemporary Adirondack paintings, illustrations, etchings and photographs.

Physics Honorary Inducts Two Students, One Prof
Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honorary, recently inducted two new student members into the society, as well as a visiting faculty member. Christopher Funch '11 and Richards G. (Chad) Miller III '10 were both inducted. Miller was abroad for the spring semester and inducted in absentia. Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics Stephen Koons was also elected.
