NCPR Wins Journalism Award for Investigative Reporting

The Society of Professional Journalists has selected North Country Public Radio (NCPR) for two excellence in journalism awards.

Natasha Haverty and Brian Mann took first place in investigative reporting for "From Birth to Death Behind Bars." Brian Mann and David Sommerstein took first place in community service reporting for "Rail Freight Danger: Lac-Megantic to New York State."

Judges chose the winners from 1,800 entries in categories covering print, radio, television and online. The awards recognize outstanding work published or broadcast in 2013.

NCPR broadcasts from St. Lawrence University, which holds the license to the National Public Radio affiliate. Their primary call letters are WSLU.
