Rhythm & Roots Ensemble to Perform with Tony Shaffer

The St. Lawrence University Department of Music will present Rhythm & Roots: Country Gospel/Classic Country at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 24, in Launders Underground located in Noble Center room 001. The event is free and open to the public.
Visiting resident and guitarist for The Unbelievable Alibis, Tony Shaffer will assist in a collaborative ensemble of country gospel with classic country music through singers, steel players, pianists, lead players, rhythm guitarists, drummers, upright bass players, fiddle and mandolin players.
Shaffer, a notable Nashville instrumentalist, will join the Music Department for a residency from Apr. 21 to 24, assisting with arrangements, class presentations, group coaching and individual coaching. Shaffer will perform with the ensemble on April 24.
Directed by Michael Farley, associate professor of music, the Rhythm & Roots Ensemble is one of the various musical group ensembles offered each semester at St. Lawrence.
