I participated in guide training as a freshman at St. Lawrence.  It was an amazing experience that allowed me to not only learn and get hands on experience in the outdoors, but also get to be a part of a great community on campus.  I focused on rock climbing during guide training and since then have lead a number of intro clinics and have tried my best to bring in new climbers to both the climbing wall and the outdoor program climbing trips.  The OP is a really cool way to gain technical skills, leadership techniques, and get used to working as a team.  It introduced me to some of my best friends on this campus as well as the Adirondack region which we are so lucky to call home.  I have one more year at St. Lawrence, and after graduating I hope to return to East Africa, where I studied abroad and work for a women’s organization before coming back to the states and attending law school.  Of course I will fit some rock climbing in along the way!
