I started the guide training process sophomore year here at St. Lawrence with a focus in rock climbing. Despite being very intimidated by white water boating I very much enjoyed and took a liking to the whole ordeal after several guide training trips down Adirondack and Canadian white-water in tandem canoes. Junior fall I traveled abroad to Bhutan and New Zealand. During these travels I was able to use soft skills such as group management, cooking and WFR taught within the guide training curriculum on informal expeditions with friends. These trips got me very excited to lead more trips for the Outdoor Program once back at St. Lawrence. With just another year on campus I look forward to leading more outdoor rock clinics locally and in Keene Valley. I am also very eager to develop new climbs in places such as Silver Lake and Potter Mountain. Post graduation I hope to take skills from guide training and guiding for the outdoor program to the next level by working as an outdoor educator and share my energy for these passions with young people.
