Christopher Marquart

Chris joined St. Lawrence in 2012 and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Student Life and Community Engagement.  In this role, he provides leadership and strategic vision to the University’s residential programs and campus activities.  He also plays an active role in researching institutional retention efforts and providing students with an engaging and dynamic campus experience that promotes social and academic growth. His areas of interest include living-learning communities, student engagement, educational leadership, and the impact of institutional culture within the higher education setting. Chris has prior professional experience in the areas of residence life, first-year programs, new student orientation, student conduct, and intercollegiate athletics. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, his master's degree from St. Lawrence University, and his doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from the University of Vermont. Chris is proud to call the North Country home and lives in the village of Canton with his wife, two amazing children, and three dogs.  He enjoys running, swimming, and yoga in his free time.
