Procedure for Admission to Graduate Study
Admission to graduate study is based on an analysis of the candidate's
undergraduate record and evidence of aptitude for advanced study. Candidates
for admission must observe the following procedures:
1. Submit the completed form "Application for Admission to a Program
of Graduate Studies."
2. Arrange to have forwarded to the coordinator of the appropriate program
official transcripts of all previous undergraduate and graduate study.
3. Submit scores on the Graduate Record Examination (Aptitude section)
for all programs where they are required.
4. Submit a statement of reasons for wishing to enter a graduate program.
Counseling students substitute the Personal Statement Questionnaire
(10 questions).
5. Arrange for three letters of reference, attesting to the candidate's
aptitude for graduate study (and where appro-priate for work in the
certificate area in the schools), to be sent directly by the writer
to the program coordinator.
6. Arrange for an interview with the faculty of the department of education.
7. Candidates for the program in the administration-supervision (M.Ed.)
are required to submit a brief autobiography.
Note: ITEM 1 must be submitted before other information.
The Graduate Admissions Committee of the department of education will
consider the completed application and the applicant will be notified
of its action. Students who apply for admission to a degree program
after completing more than 12 hours of graduate work must petition the
department to determine whether or not the hours beyond 12 will be acceptable
in a degree program.
