St. Lawrence University is committed to affirmative action and diversity. The promotion of such a commitment ensures an atmosphere that is diverse and complex in ways that are intellectually and socially enriching for the entire campus community. Recent incoming classes at St. Lawrence have consisted of 25 percent US students of color or international students. About 18 percent of each class has received Pell grants, a federal program providing need-based grants for low-income students to promote access to postsecondary education. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their teaching, research, and service.
In their letter of interest, applicants should address their plans to engage effectively with issues of diversity in the classroom, the campus, and the broader community. Applicants should also demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship and indicate a strong commitment to undergraduate education at a liberal arts college.
