Assistant Director of Young Alumni Giving
St. Lawrence University seeks an energetic, well-organized individual to join a distinguished university advancement program as the Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Programs for Young Alumni Giving. The Alumni and Parent Programs (APP) office serves 27,000 graduates, parents of current and former students, and friends of the University in many capacities including event planning on and off campus and managing a $5+ million annual giving program. Under the direct supervision of the Director of APP, this assistant director will be responsible for administering programs and planning events that promote class unity and annual giving among St. Lawrence’s last 15 years of graduates as we strive to reach 45% alumni participation by the conclusion of the University’s campaign, Momentum St. Lawrence. This includes identification, recruitment and management of young alumni committee chairs, committee members and annual fund solicitations at participation-based and leadership levels; traveling to visit with 100-125 young alumni volunteers, prospects and future prospects; and, implementing print and electronic communications that appeal to this special cohort of alumni. Face to face solicitations will be an important aspect of this position. Balancing travel needs and responsibilities with on-campus responsibilities is essential. This is one of five Assistant Director positions within the Alumni and Parent Programs Office.
Qualifications: The qualified candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a liberal arts discipline and at least two years of successful fundraising or comparable experience or significant undergraduate leadership experience. Experience in direct solicitations and/or sales are strongly preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as are organizational and volunteer management abilities. Familiarity with the philosophy of a liberal arts education is a plus.
