Human Resources Department
St. Lawrence University seeks a full-time Confidential Secretary to provide support for the Associate Director and office of Human Resources. The Confidential I provides diversified and confidential secretarial/clerical support for the office of Human Resources in the areas of employee relations, labor relations, hiring, and position reviews. This position serves as the main receptionist for the office and maintains the day-to-day operation, flow of customers, answering phones, maintaining office files, and processing departmental mail. The Confidential I plays a key role in the hiring process for all non-exempt hourly positions by managing the flow and maintenance of all records for both internal and external positions, processes and reviews budgetary transactions and inputs/updates employee information in HR database. This position serves as the primary back-up for payroll and will process payroll on a routine basis. Maintains website and Human Resources webpage and related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma (or equivalent) required. Associated degree or equivalent combination of education and 3 years business or related experience required. Exposure to labor relations and demonstrated experience of handling sensitive and confidential information, Human Resources experience preferred. Customer service and team based work experience required.
The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and have ability to manage multiple tasks successfully. Demonstrated experience with handling sensitive and confidential materials and situations required. Ability to create and maintain webpage and website postings strongly preferred. Strong working ability of Microsoft Word, Excel required. Access or other databases highly desirable.
