Dining and Conference Services

St. Lawrence University seeks a Kitchen Manager for its Camp Canaras, Upper Saranac Lake, starting the end of May for thirteen weeks.  Responsible for organizing and preparing all meals at camp for approximately eighty people at each meal during the alumni season.  Includes ordering and keeping an inventory of all food items and supplies.  This position supervises a student staff of ten.  Kitchen manager must be able to work from breakfast through dinner with breaks provided in between each meal.  Looking for candidate with experience in all aspects of food production from planning and ordering to preparation and presentation.  Serve-Safe certification preferred.  Living quarters provided for the entire thirteen weeks.  Qualifications:  High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. Two year Culinary Arts degree preferred. Good mathematical skills. Ability to be a team player, work independently and well under pressure required.  Ability to operate standard kitchen machinery and equipment.  Ability to move twenty-five pounds a minimum of ten feet.  Must be able to meet university requirements to be authorized to drive university vehicles on and off the premises, as required.  Send letter of interest, resume and three references to:  Cindy Atkins, Director of Dining and Conference Services, re: Kitchen Manager, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY 13617.  SLU is an AA/EEO employer.
