Security Officer Academy 2008

intro
Message from Director Gagnon:

On behalf of the St. Lawrence University Security Officer Academy, I am both proud and pleased to announce our 3rd Security Officer Academy. The academy will take place on June 16-20, 2008. We began our academy in June 2006 with plans to offer affordable, in depth training for colleges and universities on topics relative to the University Security and Safety Departmental Operations. The quality instruction is provided by federal, state, county and local law enforcement professionals, counseling professionals, fire safety professionals, administrative professionals, academic professionals, and community out reach professionals. The instructors are highly skilled individuals with years of experience in their fields. This year our academy will feature Kim Townsel as our keynote speaker.

Areas of instruction include but are not limited to: effective communication, NYS Security Guard Course, Clery Act, investigations, CPR/AED, defensive tactics, bomb recognition, fire safety, domestic violence, sexual assaults, stalking, cultural diversity, and drug recognition.

The cost of the academy is $200 per attendee and housing accommodations can be arranged on campus for $20 per night with linen included. Meals can be on your own or provided at $20 per day for 3 meals per day. The deadline to register is June 6, 2008.
We look forward to training your Security & Safety staff at our academy. I truly believe that our academy represents the finest security training in the area.

Respectfully,
Patrick W. Gagnon, Director of Security & Safety
