2007: Murphy served as a back-up kicker during his first year with the Scarlet and Brown. The Carthage, NY native is an Augsbury/North Country Scholar and is the recipient of both the Philip B. Fletcher '54 Scholarship and a Legacy Grant. Murphy is also involved in both KSLU Radio and Male Athletes Against Sexual Violence (MAASV).

At Carthage High School

Murphy was a four-sport athlete, competing in Football, Swimming, Baseball and Soccer. He was a First Team All-North selection at kicker, and was both a Scholar-Athlete and a captain his senior season. The Carthage, NY native was also a Section III Class A All-Star and holds the school record for field goals in a season. Murphy was also competitive in his other sports, though, as he was a two-year captain of the swim team and was a 2nd Team All-North choice for baseball. His efforts in athletics were matched by those in the classroom, as Murphy was a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the Augsbury North Country Scholarship.
