SAINTS TOP PLATTSBURGH, LOSE TO ROCHESTER IN TOURNEY OPENERS
Sept. 5: The Victory Promotions volleyball tournament creates one of those rare situations in which St. Lawrence University’s volleyball team definitely does not want to be home on Saturday.
The Saints should have a short road trip for day two of the tournament after a split in opening round play at the Burkman Gymnasium. The Saints turned back Plattsburgh 3-1 in the first match in the Canton bracket, but lost a highly competitive 3-0 match to Rochester in match two. If Rochester beat Plattsburgh in match three, the Saints and Rochester will travel to Potsdam on Saturday to compete in the Gold and Silver divisions in the championship round with the Bronze division being contested at the Burkman Gym.
The Saints and Cardinals swapped 25-22 wins in games one and two of their match with the Saints taking game three by an identical 25-22 score. SLU then clinched the match with a 25-10 win in game four.
Rochester won game one 25-23, took game two 29-27 and closed out the match with a 25-14 win in game three. The Saints will take a 4-2 record into Saturday action.
