The Elberty Laboratory for Spatial Analysis, in Madill Hall, named in memory of the late Professor Emeritus of Geography William T. Elberty, was dedicated at ceremonies on October 28. With family and friends attending, the event celebrated Professor Elberty's many contributions to St. Lawrence. Photos and remarks by President Daniel F. Sullivan are posted to the Web.

In Memoriam: Professor Emeritus of English Paul Jamieson passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at the age of 103. President Sullivan's tribute announcement on this faculty legend is posted to the Web.
Kevin Emblidge '06 and Bill Olsen, GIS/GPS technician, won third prize at the 2006 New York State GIS (geographic image systems) map competition, held during the state GIS Conference in Lake Placid in October.

Clark will discuss his new book, Empathy in Counseling and Psychotherapy: Perspectives and Practices, on Friday, November 17, at 4 p.m. in the Josephine Young Room of Owen D. Young Library. The event, organized by the Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries, is open to the public, free of charge.

Three St. Lawrence University alumni have been included in lists selecting the top individuals in the legal profession by the magazine Lawdragon, which covers legal news and reviews lawyers and judges.

Programs and services initiated by St. Lawrence were recently cited in articles in two trade magazines:

- The October 2006 issue of Security Management magazine includes an article about the electronic locking system in the senior townhouses, recommended by Director of Security and Safety Patrick Gagnon.

- The September 2006 issue of Food Management magazine includes an article about how slip-resistant footwear can reduce the incidence of injuries to food-service employees. St. Lawrence is cited in the article as an example; a program providing slip-resistant footwear to employees has significantly reduced compensation claims.
Joseph Lekuton '91, M'94, who was recently elected to Parliament in his native Kenya, was the subject of a November 2 story on "Voice of America." The story includes information about his education at St. Lawrence.
