SLU receives record number of applications for admission
St. Lawrence University has received a record number of
applications for undergraduate admission for the 2007-2008 academic
year. The St. Lawrence Office of Admissions reported that as of
February 15, 4,423 applications had been received; the total represents
a 38.6 percent increase over last year, which was also a record

St. Lawrence University
President Daniel F. Sullivan has been elected vice chair and chair-elect of the board
of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U).
Perfit '71 to give Ferguson lecture March 1
University of Florida Professor of Geology Michael Perfit, a
1971 graduate of St. Lawrence University, will deliver the Susan
Caroline Ferguson Memorial Lecture in Geology on Thursday, March
1, at 8 p.m., in Bloomer Auditorium, Brown Hall. The talk, on
new geological and biological discoveries in deep-submarine exploration
of the East Pacific Rise, is open to the public, free of charge.
'81 appointed to high level state education position
David J. Miller '81 has been appointed deputy commissioner for innovation and chief of staff of the New York State Education Department. The appointment was announced February 13, 2007, by the State Board of Regents and State Education Commissioner Richard Mills. For more.
women's squash team won the Epps Cup competition as part of the Howe
Cup national team championships, the women's hockey team advances to the
ECACHL Tournament as #2 seed and will host Clarkson University on Friday,
Feb. 23, and the men's hockey team needs just one more win to clinch
