North Country Scholars Named
Eighty outstanding high school seniors from throughout Northern New York State have been named Augsbury/North Country Scholars by St. Lawrence University.
| Teach-In continues celebration and reflection
Continuing the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the inauguration of President Barack Obama, a teach-in will be held on Thursday, February 5, in the Winston Room of the Student Center at St. Lawrence University.
| Organ music concert February 7
A concert and lecture celebrating organ music will be held at St. Lawrence University on Saturday, February 7, in Gunnison Memorial Chapel; both are open to the public, free of charge.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has named Christopher Ritter '72 vice president for marketing and communications. Ritter will lead a division of 20 professionals in the areas of marketing, public relations, publications and the campus Web site.

A letter to the editor of the Watertown Daily Times by Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz was published January 19; Horwitz commented on an opinion piece by Adam Cohen, published by the paper earlier. Horwitz was quoted in a January 18 story on Newsmax, about President Obama's economic stimulus proposal.

Rookie Jarell Roberts '12 won the 55 and 200 to lead the men's track team to the St. Lawrence Invitational title. The women's track team placed second. Women's hockey swept its road weekend, downing Union 4-1 and RPI 5-3. The Saints also defeated Clarkson 2-1 on Wednesday. Men's hockey lost a see-saw 7-6 overtime decision to RPI Friday, but rebounded for a solid 5-2 over Union Saturday. Women's basketball swept RPI and Vassar, while men's basketball downed Vassar but lost to RPI, ending a six-game win streak. Hannah Grimes '11 broke the pool record in the 400 IM, but both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams lost to Hamilton.

Helicopter Video View of the North Country!
St. Lawrence collaborated with several regional institutions to commission a helicopter video of the North Country. Enjoy the video tour that begins with a bird's eye view of our varsity crew team practicing on the St. Lawrence river, then shares the Thousands Islands region, Canton, the St. Lawrence campus, the foothills of the Adirondacks, Canaras and the Upper Saranac Lake region.
