Prof. Schulenberg named 2010 Piskor Lecturer
St. Lawrence University Associate Professor of Fine Arts Melissa A. Schulenberg has been named the Frank P. Piskor Faculty Lecturer and will give a presentation on campus next year titled "Manufactured Landscape."

Prof. Husinec receives grant for collaborative research
St. Lawrence University Assistant Professor of Geology Antun Husinec has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Petroleum Research Fund Undergraduate New Investigator program that will allow him to work with undergraduate students on a research project over the next two years.

Sullivan Fellows Named for Summer 2009
Twenty-seven students have been selected as 2009 Sullivan Fellows for this summer, in a program that allows them to receive funding while conducting research with a faculty partner.

String Orchestra will perform two concerts
The St. Lawrence University String Orchestra, under the direction of Christian Hosmer, will perform in a concert entitled "Solo" on Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel on campus, and Friday, May 1, at 8 p.m. in the Opera House in Russell. Both are open to the public, free of charge.

The St. Lawrence University Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, with the St. Lawrence Hunting and Fishing Club, will hold its Second Annual Spring Cocktail Party on April 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Best Western University Inn in Canton.

The VoiceAmerica Business talk radio network aired an hour-long interview with Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz on April
16, on the "Free Market" program. Horwitz and host Mike Beitler discussed the similarities between the Great Depression and the
current economic crisis.

Associate Vice President for University Relations Lisa Cania and Kristen Bednar '09 both had "guest posts" on the LinkedIn blog during the week of April 20. The week's posts all deal career advice to Class of '09 graduates.

Saints Sports Highlights
The men's and women's crew teams each won three of four races against Union and Skidmore. Baseball swept St. Michael's in a doubleheader, while Rensselaer swept St. Lawrence softball in their Liberty League opening matches. Women's golf finished third in the Jack Leaman Invitational. Men’s golf team finished 11th at the Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore College. Men's tennis clinched third place in the Liberty League Tournament, while women's tennis beat Ithaca College, with Captain Casey Gilman'10 winning her two matches. Both men's and women's lacrosse won their recent contests against Rensselaer and Skidmore, respectively. Alyssa Pirinelli was a double winner and added to her list of St. Lawrence track and field records and senior Meaghan White was the 100 meter hurdle champion at the Cortland Classic .The Saint men sprinters took center stage on day two of the Cortland Classic Saturday as the Saint 4x100 relay team set a program record with a win in that event and Jay Thornhill '09 and Jarell Roberts '12 had strong performances in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Department News: Men’s basketball head coach Chris Downs was named the New Balance – Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) Men’s College Division Coach of the Year after guiding the Saints to another winning season that included a trip to the NCAA ‘Sweet 16’

Student Views videos are produced and edited entirely by current St. Lawrence students. This semester, Kelsey Fraser '09 produces a weekly segment. This week, Kelsey is on special assignment for a University Communications Office project. Her next video will be posted for April 27. Visit her previous videos to learn about seniors' post-graduation plans, community service projects, healthy lifestyle choices, sustainability choices, and more. Helicopter Video View of the North Country!

St. Lawrence collaborated with several regional institutions to commission a helicopter video of the North Country. Enjoy the video tour that begins with a bird's eye view of our varsity crew team practicing on the St. Lawrence river, then shares the Thousands Islands region, Canton, the St. Lawrence campus, the foothills of the Adirondacks, Canaras and the Upper Saranac Lake region.
