Cost-Savings Ideas Wanted
You have heard President Sullivan discuss the ways that St. Lawrence is managing its finances in this economic recession, working hard to reduce costs even as we maintain programs, services and staffing at very high standards.   Many people on campus have made great suggestions that can save money, and we’d like to make it even easier for you to offer ideas. We’ve created a campus-only Web page for money savings ideas:  https://esaint.stlawu.edu/IdeaConnect/

IdeaConnect allows members of the St. Lawrence community to log in, using your SLU network user ID and password, post suggestions for money savings, and comment on other ideas already posted.  Our Budget and Finance Committee will review all suggestions and discuss them with the people on campus who oversee the programs or functions mentioned. We expect that many ideas indeed will save us money, some may not, but every idea will be considered. Over time, when all ideas implemented are taken together, we will save considerable resources.

We’ll ask you to offer constructive comments and suggestions.  In the spirit of collaboration and community, we’ll want to avoid criticisms of other offices’ procedures and programs. We know well that virtually everything we do here has a reason.  We’re asking the campus community to think creatively about changing the assumptions that underlie those reasons.

Sustainability Tip #10
Moving out or doing spring cleaning?  Don't trash it, stash it.  Send all your unwanted yet still useful items to the Re-Cellar (SLU's thrift store located in Reiff basement) or a local thrift store. The Re-Cellar located in Reiff College on Maple Street (it's in the basement, toward the back), will be open Monday 11:30am-1:30pm.
