Alumni Reunion Weekend At St. Lawrence May 28-31
More than 1,000 graduates and guests are expected to participate in Alumni Reunion Weekend activities at St. Lawrence University, from Thursday, May 28, through Sunday, May 31. This year's Reunion is an all-class event honoring President Daniel F. Sullivan's final reunion as president.
St. Lawrence University's North Country Japanese Garden To Be Dedicated May 30
The North Country Japanese Garden at St. Lawrence University, located in the inner courtyard of Sykes Residence Hall, will be dedicated by President Daniel F. and Ann H. Sullivan in a ceremony on Saturday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will be led by Zen Master Shinge Roshi.
| Robert Thacker Appointed To Dana Professorship At St. Lawrence
St. Lawrence University President Daniel F. Sullivan has announced the appointment of Professor of Canadian Studies Robert W. Thacker to a Dana Professorship.
| Thirteen In Class Of 2009 Elected Phi Beta Kappa
Thirteen members of the Class of 2009 were elected to St. Lawrence's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic honor society, on May 16.
| Physics Honorary Inducts Two Students, One Prof
Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honorary, recently inducted two new student members into the society, as well as a visiting faculty member. Christopher Funch '11 and Richards G. (Chad) Miller III '10 were both inducted. Miller was abroad for the spring semester and inducted in absentia. Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics Stephen Koons was also elected.

President Daniel Sullivan also was quoted in a May 8 article on Inside Higher Education on (Commencement) Season's Greeting. Read the article: http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2009/05/08/commencement. President Sullivan was also quoted in a May 13 story in USA Today, headlined "Eight Keys to a Graduation Speech with Pomp & Significance." The Chronicle of Higher Education published a letter to the editor from President Daniel Sullivan in its May 29 issue, headlined "Monitor Net Tuition, Not Sticker Price." The letter outlined President Sullivan's thoughts on an interview The Chronicle had published online with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

|Saints Sports Highlights
Alyssa Pirnelli '10 ended a spectacular season by placing second in the shot put at the NCAA Division III women's track and field championships Saturday. She earned all-America status for the fifth time in the event between indoor and outdoor seasons, and became the first Saint female athlete to earn all America honors in four different events. Earlier in the weekend she placed sixth in the hammer throw to claim all-America honors. Eric Jones '10 finished 13th in the hammer throw for men's track. The men's lacrosse team had four all-Americas, led by first-team pick P.J. Santora '09. Alex Slauson '09 was a third team pick and Pete Carroll '09 and Trevor Scoon '10 earned honorable mention.

St. Lawrence collaborated with several regional institutions to commission a helicopter video of the North Country. Enjoy the video tour that begins with a bird's eye view of our varsity crew team practicing on the St. Lawrence river, then shares the Thousands Islands region, Canton, the St. Lawrence campus, the foothills of the Adirondacks, Canaras and the Upper Saranac Lake region.
