SLU and Upstate Medical Center create early assurance program for rural medicine
St. Lawrence University and SUNY Upstate Medical University (College of Medicine) have begun an early assurance program for students interested in rural medicine. The agreement allows for students accepted into the program to have a place at Upstate Medical University upon successful completion of a degree at St. Lawrence.

People can become addicted to unhealthy emotions in ways similar to becoming addicted to unhealthy substances like tobacco or alcohol, a St. Lawrence University professor states in a new book.

Prof. Schrems presents research at conference
Assistant Professor of History Melissane Parm Schrems will present research and serve on a panel at the 4th Annual Black New England Conference at the University of New Hampshire in Durham June 11 through 13.

Jacques Martin '75 has been named head coach of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. The announcement was made June 1.

St. Lawrence In the News
A story in the May 19 edition of the Syracuse Post-Standard "Green" supplement noted the University's Re-Cellar, formerly the Re-Use Trailer. Now housed in the basement of Reiff College, it's open throughout the academic year for students to re-use everything from rugs and hangers to clothing and dishes.
Dana Professor of Canadian Studies Robert Thacker was quoted in a May 28 story in the Toronto Star, about author Alice Munro, winner of the prestigious Man Booker Prize in literature. Thacker wrote the only authorized Munro biography.

: We've collected up and created a central location for all St. Lawrence videos! Now you can visit our Media Room to see Student Views Videos by Chelsea Nuffer '10, the SLU helicopter video and any other videos we create over the next months. This week, Chelsea features student workers at reunion, who share what they enjoyed about meeting alumni.


UPDATES

Helicopter Video View of the North Country!

St. Lawrence collaborated with several regional institutions to commission a helicopter video of the North Country. Enjoy the video tour that begins with a bird's eye view of our varsity crew team practicing on the St. Lawrence river, then shares the Thousands Islands region, Canton, the St. Lawrence campus, the foothills of the Adirondacks, Canaras and the Upper Saranac Lake region.

The Spring issue of the St. Lawrence magazine is entitled The Chronicle of a Legacy, and features highlights of the ways
