St. Lawrence Included In 'Greenest Colleges' Guide
St. Lawrence University has been named one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the nation by The Princeton Review. In celebration of Earth Day, the organization published its first-ever Guide to 286 Green Colleges, which includes the University.

2010 University Fellows Named
Thirty-one students have been selected as 2010 University Fellows for this summer, in a program that allows them to receive funding while conducting research with a faculty partner. This is the eleventh year of the program.

Six Students Awarded Tanner Fellowships
Six students were awarded Tanner Fellowships for 2010, encouraging students "to enlarge their capacities to make a positive and creative mark on the world by enabling them to design and pursue educational experiences not otherwise available to them."

SLU String Orchestra Performing 'Best Of The Classics' In Spring Concert
The St. Lawrence University String Orchestra, directed by Christian Hosmer, performs its spring concert, with the theme "Best of the Classics," on Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel on campus, and Friday, April 30, at 8 p.m. at the Russell Opera House. Both are open to the public, free of charge.

Prof. Cowser Gives Keynote Address At Symposium
Associate Professor of English Bob Cowser gave the keynote address for a symposium held at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, TN, April 16 through 21. "A Sense of Place: An Interdisciplinary Symposium" took place during the Chowan Academic Forum, an annual event celebrating the intellectual and artistic life of the university.

Prof. White Leads Eco-Poetry Workshop In Nicaragua
Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures Steven F. White, on leave in Nicaragua, recently conducted a workshop entitled "La eco-poesía: hacer la morada con la palabra" ("Eco-poetry: Making a Home with Words"), sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Nicaragua and the Nicaraguan Association of Young Writers in Managua. It coincided with National Poetry Month in the United States as well asthe celebration of Earth Day.

Asst. Coach Saeger Philpot '07 Completes Boston Marathon
Assistant Field Hockey Coach Saeger Philpot '07 completed the 2010 Boston Marathon, with an official time of 3:29:03. It was the second marathon Philpot has completed, and she reports that she's already looking forward to next year's event.

Men's Golf Takes Oswego Tournament Title
Four St. Lawrence golfers finished in the top 10 as the Saints claimed the team title at the Oswego Spring Invitational Sunday. Ren O'Connor '12 led the Saints with a third-place finish. Women's tennis advanced to the Liberty League semifinals before dropping an 8-1 decision to Vassar. The Saints bounced back to upset William Smith in the third-place match. Women's crew repeated as Liberty League champions, while men's crew had a strong showing at the league meet with two second-place finishes. Baseball swept a double-header with St. Michael's, 5-4 and 8-0, after losing three straight earlier in the week. Softball had a winless week. Women's lacrosse saw its five-game win streak end at the hands of No. 11-ranked Union, 16-4, after beating Skidmore, 13-11, and Clarkson, 10-9. Men's lacrosse dropped a pair of games to ranked opponents, 13-4 to No. 4 Cortland and 10-9 to No. 14 RPI. Men's and women's track competed at the Penn Relays against Division I and post-graduate athletes. Wendy Pavlus '11 finished fifth in the 10,000 meters, and was the top Division III runner in the race. Dan Ramsey '11 was 10th, which was the second-best Division III finish.
