St. Lawrence University Commencement Recap
St. Lawrence University Commencement on Sunday, May 16, celebrated the graduation of 539 students: 514 candidates for bachelor's degrees and 25 candidates for master's degrees. The Commencement web site has a recap of the ceremony, including a photo album, and texts of the speeches given by students and guests. Congratulations Class of 2010! Audio files of the speeches, and video of the ceremony will be added later, so keep checking back!

CA State Students Name F. King Alexander '87 President Of The Year
F. King Alexander '87, president of California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), has been named this year's recipient of the Robert C. Maxson President of the Year Award by the California State Student Association (CSSA), which represents more than 405,000 students in the California State University (CSU) system. Each year, the CSSA recognizes one CSU campus president whose leadership reflects a commitment to the mission of the CSSA, who has demonstrated exceptional inclusion of students within the context of shared governance and has assisted the CSSA in advancing its statewide policy agenda.

Laura Harrington '90 Receives Cornell Faculty Award
Laura Harrington '90 is one of eight Cornell University faculty members who recently received Provost's Awards for Distinguished Scholarship. Harrington is associate professor of entomology at Cornell.

Men's Tennis Loses to Williams at NCAAs
The men's tennis team made its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament at Amherst last week and lost its second-round match to Williams, 5-1. Baseball saw its season end in the Liberty League playoffs after losses to Rochester and Clarkson. Women's golf also played in the NCAA Tournament and was led by Alair Muzzati '11, who posted a 77 in the final round. Alyssa Pirinelli '10 improved her own women's track record in the hammer throw and also won the shot put at the ECAC Championships. St. Lawrence will have a number of athletes compete at the NCAA Championships May 27-29 at Baldwin Wallace. Women's crew will also compete int he NCAAs that weekend in Sacramento, CA.

The Battle of the Saints Update
Jacques Martin '75, head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, got the last word in on his battle with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ray Shero '84, the team's general manager, rallying from a 3-2 deficit in the best-of-seven series to win 4-3. The Canadiens now play the Philadelphia Flyers for the right to head to the Stanley Cup finals.
