Perennial Holiday Favorite Is Continuing Gift To St. Lawrence
St. Lawrence University Class of 1924 graduate J. Kimball Gannon made a bequest to the school that provides a gift throughout the year, but it has even greater importance during the holiday season: the composer of the perennially popular "I'll Be Home For Christmas" left the University a portion of the royalties from his compositions.

SLU Wins College Division Of Ski-Suit Design Contest
St. Lawrence University won the college division of a design contest sponsored by athletic clothing manufacturers Mt. Borah. As a result, members of the team have been given 20 Pro XC suits and Pro XC jackets for their personal use.

Three Biology Majors Awarded Research Grants
Three students have been awarded research grants by the national biology honor society Beta Beta Beta. The grants, totaling over $1,200, will assist the students in conducting their senior-year research projects.

Gallery Director's Street Art Stickers Exhibited In Montreal
An exhibition of street art stickers and photographs collected by Richard F. Brush Art Gallery Director Catherine Tedford is at the Fresh Paint Gallery in Montreal through January 29, 2012. Hatch Kingdom, the only sticker museum in the world, has collaborated with Tedford, (a.k.a. Stickerkitty) to present the exhibition from Berlin and New York City, with additional pieces from cities across Europe and North America. It is part of a larger exhibition entitled Edition III, which includes work by contemporary muralists, graffiti artists, photographers and others.

A video by Mike Petroni '12 and Tommy Costello '14, students in the "Going Locavore" course, featuring a taste test of local products, was included as a "What We're Reading" post in the New York Times Diner's Journal blog on December 7.
Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Jeffrey Rickey is the author of a December 6 guest post in the College, Inc. blog on the Washington Post website, on how St. Lawrence handles Early Decision applications.
Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz appeared on "Freedom Watch," on the Fox Business channel, on December 6, discussing New York Senator Charles Schumer's plan for prescription pricing, which Horwitz said would lead to drug shortages.
An essay by Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Jon Rosales, on how global warming is affecting the climate in Alaska, was published in the Huffington Post on December 6.

Men's Hockey Splits Games With Clarkson
Men's Hockey played two games against archrival Clarkson last week, losing 5-3 in a league game at Appleton Arena Tuesday, then beating the Golden Knights 4-1 in a non-league game played in Lake Placid Saturday. Men's track won the Saints Holiday Relays title, while the women's track team placed second. Women's basketball lost at Hartwick, 57-40, and Medaille, 67-55, to close out the pre-holiday portion of its season.
