Beginning in the fall of 2012, St. Lawrence University students will have the option to study in Amman, Jordan, in partnership with American-Mideast Training Services (Amideast).

Potsdam Again Victorious In SLU Math Contest
A team from Potsdam Central School won the 68th Annual Pi Mu Epsilon Interscholastic Mathematics Contest, held recently at St. Lawrence University and sponsored by the University's mathematics, computer science and statistics department and the local chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the mathematics honorary. The victory marks the third straight Pi Mu Epsilon Interscholastic Cup for Potsdam.

Seniors Pick Cowser As Top Prof
St. Lawrence University Professor of English Bob Cowser Jr. is the recipient of this year's Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award, as voted by members of the senior class. The award is the only one given to faculty that is chosen by students.

Marriage Equality Activist To Speak At SLU, Following Award-Winning Film
Charlene Strong, subject of the award-winning documentary film For My Wife...The Making of An Activist for Marriage Equality, will speak at St. Lawrence University following a screening of the film. The events are on Sunday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall on campus and are open to the public, free of charge.

2012 University Fellows Selected
Thirty-nine students have been selected as 2012 University Fellows for this summer, in a program that provides students with a stipend to conduct research with a faculty partner. This is the 13th year of the program, and the largest group of students whose proposals were approved.

A study by psychology professors Serge Onyper and Pamela Thacher, showing there may be brief benefits to chewing gum before taking a test, was cited in "The Answer Sheet" blog in The Washington Post on April 3.
Emeritus President Daniel Sullivan is the author of an essay titled "There Has Never Been a Better Time to Compete Against the Publics," published April 2 as a blog post for clients of Hardwick Day, a higher education consulting firm.

Baseball Continues Great Start To Season
Baseball swept a double-header over Union, winning 8-3 and 14-6 to run their win streak to seven in a row and continue one of the best starts to a season in program history. Mark Syron '15 drove in five runs, four of them with his first collegiate homer. Softball dropped two Liberty League games to Union College, with scores of 7-3 and 4-1. Brandon Lustig '15 shot a 79 on the par-72 Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida to lead men's golf to second place in the seven-team Utica College Invitational. The riding team qualified as a team to compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national championship show in Raleigh, NC, in May and the Saints will send three individuals to the national show as well after a strong performance at the Zone II Championships at Skidmore on Saturday.
