First-Year Amr Khaled Khalifa Wins Squash Individual National Title
First-year student Amr Khaled Khalifa captured the St. Lawrence University men's squash program's first individual national title with a 3-0 win in the College Squash Association Individual Championship in Hartford, Conn., Sunday.  Khalifa swept top-seeded Todd Harrity, a senior from Princeton, in the Pool Division championship match.

Lecture on Role of Digital Media in Sports to be Held March 4
David Little, director and curator of photography and new media at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, will give a talk at St. Lawrence University on Monday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the Griffiths Arts Center, Room 123. The event is free and open to the public.

SLU Welcomes Musicians for Japanese Music Event
St. Lawrence University is hosting an evening of Japanese traditional and contemporary music, “Songs of the Wind: Traditional Shakuhachi and Koto Music Past and Present,” on Tuesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. in Eben Holden. The event is free and open to the public.

Author, speaker and teacher Pam Houston will read from her recent work as part of the St. Lawrence University’s Writers Series on Wednesday, March 6, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

'Make March Count' Young Alumni Challenge Begins March 1
The Make March Count Challenge between St. Lawrence, Union College, Skidmore College and Hobart and William Smith Colleges will take place March 1 through March 31. Alumni from the classes of 2003 through 2012 are encouraged to participate by making a gift of any size to support St. Lawrence.

Laurentian Singers Prepare for Spring Break Tour
The choir will perform in Syracuse, N.Y.; Philadelphia; Baltimore; and Washington, D.C., beginning Friday, March 8. The concerts listed are open to the public and free of charge.

Biology Honorary Inducts New Members
Eighteen students were inducted into St. Lawrence's chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the biology honor society, on February 22.

The gospel workshop that took place last week was featured on NCPR Friday, March 1. Both audio and video of the segment are available on NCPR’s website.
Thelomathesian Society President Taylor Castator '15 was quoted in a Watertown Daily Times article about the students' excitement regarding the new residence hall. The story was published Saturday, March 2.
Associate Professor of Mathematics Michael Schuckers was recently interviewed by Sporting News about his research regarding his NHL comprehensive statistic rating system. The story was posted on Wednesday, February 27.
Zachary Dupray '07 was recently named Waddington's new historian and a Watertown Daily Times article on Tuesday, February 26 mentioned he graduated from St. Lawrence.

Khalifa Wins National Championship, Women's Hockey Advances
In addition to first-year Amr Khaled Khalifa's national championship, several men's and women's squash players also competed at the CSA Nationals this weekend. The women's hockey team defeated Quinnipiac in a hard-fought three game series, winning the first game 1-0 (OT), dropping the second game 3-2 (3OT), and then taking the clincher 2-0 Sunday, to advance to the ECAC Hockey semifinals next weekend. Men's lacrosse defeated Haverford in their first game of the season, 11-5. Men's tennis moved to 4-1 on the season with a 9-0 victory over Division II Saint Michael's and a 6-3 victory over Ithaca. Women's tennis was edged by the Bombers, 5-4. The men's and women's track and field teams competed at the ECAC Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, with Divya Biswal '15 earning the Saints their only individual title. Men's hockey dropped both games in their final weekend of the regular season and will host Colgate in the first round of the ECAC Hockey tournament. Women's basketball returned to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2009 but fell to Tufts in the opening game, 57-32.
