SLU Statistics Professor Receives Fulbright Award
St. Lawrence University Associate Professor of Statistics Michael Schuckers was recently selected for a Fulbright award to Finland, granted by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, for the fall 2013 semester.

Family-Friendly "Hush" to be Performed at St. Lawrence
The award-winning play, “Hush: An Interview With America,” by James Still, will be performed in St. Lawrence University’s Gulick Theatre Wednesday through Saturday, April 3 through 6, at 8 p.m. An additional family matinee performance will be held Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. Admission is free but tickets are required.

SLU Professor is Featured Presenter at National Conference
Peter Ladd, a professor in St. Lawrence University’s graduate program in education, was the featured presenter at the American Counseling Association’s National Conference, held in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 21 through 24.

SLU Students Awarded 'Project for Peace' Grant
A project designed by juniors Dolma Lama, Rochana Cooray, Zoe Garry and Joanna Patouris has been selected to receive funding from the Davis United World College Scholars Program’s Projects for Peace initiative.

St. Lawrence Student Awarded Summer Fellowship
St. Lawrence University sophomore Ashley Grey has been selected for a Summer Student Fellowship at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), the world's largest private, nonprofit oceanographic research institution and a global leader in the study and exploration of the ocean.

St. Lawrence's 'Noon in the Chapel' to Provide Music for Good Friday
The hour-long performance will provide listeners with a quiet, reflective program for Good Friday beginning at 12:15 p.m. Friday, March 29. It will feature organ music by Theodore Dubois, William Byrd, Johann Pachelbel, Horatio W. Parker and Henri Mulet. The University’s musician-in-residence Sondra Goldsmith Proctor will perform.

Eubanks Keynotes CSTEP Career Exploration Symposium
St. Lawrence University recently hosted the 17th Annual Career Exploration Symposium and 25th Anniversary Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) Celebration Dinner, which featured keynote speaker Robin Eubanks of the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, whose comments focused on bouncing back from adversity.

More than 20 exhibits were part of the fifth annual Brain Blast, held at St. Lawrence on Friday, March 22. The event was featured in the Watertown Daily Times on Saturday, March 23.
Professor of Canadian Studies and English Robert Thacker was quoted in The Chronicle of Higher Education's article about Willa Cather's letters being made public for the first time. The article notes that with the release of the letters comes answers Thacker needed for an essay he was writing, which is now in the pipeline to be published next year. The article was published March 22.
Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics Steven Horwitz did a live radio show with Seattle's KUOW on Thursday, March 21, discussing oil subsidies.
St. Lawrence and its four alumni who won in the Kenya elections were featured in a story in Kenya's Business Daily, published March 20.

Carey, Flanagan Named Hobery Baker Finalists
St. Lawrence University's men's hockey program became the fourth ECAC Hockey team to have two players named to the Hobey Baker top ten list since the inception of the award in 1981 when Greg Carey ’14  and Kyle Flanagan ’13 earned the honor last week.

Men’s Lacrosse Wins Conference Opener
Men’s lacrosse
held off Skidmore 9-8 in its Liberty League opener on Saturday, but fell to No. 14 Middlebury 11-4 earlier in the week. Following a 15-5 loss to No. 3 Cortland State on Thursday, the women’s lacrosse team bounced back for a 16-8 victory over Potsdam State on Friday. Women’s tennis edged RPI 5-4 on Friday but was swept by Skidmore 9-0 on Saturday. Men’s tennis dropped both matches last week, falling to RPI 6-3 on Friday and Skidmore 8-1 on Saturday. The men’s and women’s golf teams competed over Spring Break, highlighted by sophomore Jack Whalen shooting 66, a program record for low round.
