Saints Riding Wins IHSA National Championship
St. Lawrence University's riding team has its second straight Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national team championship, but this one it has to share with Zone 2 counterpart Skidmore College.

Moving-Up Day celebrates student achievements in academics and co-curricular activities. It is a campus tradition dating from 1869, when it began as "Tree Holiday." The Leadership Banquet is a new tradition that began this year.

Piskor Lectureship Awarded to Shinu Abraham
St. Lawrence University Associate Professor of Anthropology Shinu Abraham has been awarded the Frank P. Piskor Faculty Lectureship for 2013. Next year, she will deliver a campus lecture, “Quest for Fire: The Search for the Origins of Ancient South Indian Glass.”

SLU Professor Speaks to United Nations on Earth Day
Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Jon Rosales recently spoke to the 193 Member States of the UN as part of the third annual interactive dialogue on Harmony with Nature, an initiative discussing development options agenda between “independent experts” and the General Assembly of the United Nations. The purpose of the dialogues is to advance discussions on different economic approaches, in the context of sustainable development, and to further a more ethical basis for the relationship between humanity and the Earth.

Assistant Professor of History Howard Eissenstat took part in the Project on Middle East Democracy event “Turkey’s Troubled Politics: Rising Influence and Eroding Freedoms" on Friday, April 26. A summary of his discussion was featured on POMED's website.
Dawn of Memories: the meaning of early recollections in life, a book written by Arthur Clark, professor and coordinator of St. Lawrence's counseling and human development graduate program, was featured in the Ogdensburg Journal on Thursday, April 25.

Baseball Earns Liberty League Playoff Bid
The baseball team swept Clarkson on Saturday (6-0, 19-6) and split on Sunday (4-0 L, 6-5 W) to earn the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament this upcoming weekend. Earlier in the week the Saints lost to Ithaca College, 15-5. The women’s track and field team finished second in the NYSCTC Championships, while the men’s track and field team finished third. Women’s lacrosse made it to the Liberty League title game after defeating William Smith 12-11 on Friday in the conference semifinals, but lost to RPI on Saturday, 14-5. Softball celebrated two wins against Hamilton (8-3, 5-4) earlier in the week and Kyle Plimpton ’15 being named conference Pitcher of the Year. At the Liberty League Championships, the Saints lost to RPI 1-0, then defeated Union 1-0 in eight innings to stay alive, but then dropped a heartbreaker to Rochester, 3-2 in extra innings. Women’s tennis competed at the Liberty League Championships and defeated RIT 6-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to Vassar 5-1 in the semifinals. Men’s lacrosse was upset by Clarkson in the Liberty League Semifinals on Friday, falling 7-5 to the Golden Knights. The men’s and women’s crew teams competed at the New York State Championships this weekend.
