Best-selling author/illustrator David Sibley will present the Ninth Annual Romer Lecture at St. Lawrence University on Wednesday, April 6, at 8 p.m., in the auditorium of Hepburn Hall, Room 218. The lecture, on "Birds and Bird Guides: The Universal Appeal of Birds, and the Pleasures and Challenges of Creating a Field Guide," is open to the public, free of charge.

The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) bus, fueled by vegetable oil and solar power, will be on the St. Lawrence University campus on Thursday, April 7. In addition, NOLS staff member Dave Anderson will present a slide show, "The Long Walk Expedition," also on April 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 123 of the Griffiths Arts Center. The event is open to the public, as are visits to the bus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; it will be parked near the Student Center.

Thomas Kunkel, dean of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, will present the Friends of Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries' Ninth Annual Lecture on Reading, titled "Seriously Funny: The Life and Times of The New Yorker's Harold Ross." The event, open to the public free of charge, is on Thursday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in Herring-Cole, with a reception to follow.

The theme of this year's event is "Strengthening Local Economies Through Collaboration Among Community and Educational Institutions."
