To: Prospective Participants of study abroad programs:
St. Lawrence University has been closely monitoring recent
world events especially as far as they might affect our study abroad
programs. After consulting with the directors of those programs and
the relevant government websites, we are reassured that that, at this
point, no changes are warranted and the programs will go ahead as planned.
I would like to remind you, however, that the responses
to these world events have resulted in increased security at airports
on both sides of the Atlantic. For example, there are stricter stipulations
on what you may take on the plane as your carry on luggage. You may
not be allowed to carry items like toothpaste, perfumes, gels, and liquids
(including beverages). Although the long delays at airports resulting
from the extra screening are subsiding, you may want to give yourself
at least an extra hour at the airport before departure. It is highly
recommended that you contact your airline or check its website for the
latest information regarding your specific travel plans before leaving
for the airport.
Let me assure you, finally, that St. Lawrence University
will continue to pay very close attention to this situation and will
communicate with you regarding any changes in travel restrictions.
The St. Lawrence University faculty and staff at our various
abroad programs are very much looking forward to hosting you and offer
you a memorable educational experience.
