Chemistry Stockroom Assistant

Work hours:  Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Location:  Johnson 328

Reports to:  Suna Stone-McMasters, Chemical Hygiene Officer

Job duties:

  • Completing the physical and electronic chemical inventory in the Chemistry Department.
  • Helping students and staff find supplies.
  • Keeping laboratory glassware and supplies stocked, clean and organized.
  • Testing safety equipment in Chemistry Department laboratories.
  • Compiling collections of Chemical Safety Data Sheets.
  • Preparing reagents and equipment for upcoming teaching labs and classroom demonstrations.
  • Preparing reagents in a safe, accurate manner.
  • Other duties as agreed upon.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Successful completion of High School Chemistry class with lab
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to differentiate chemical names
  • Respect for the high level of trust and security required to operate a chemical stockroom

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail
  • Experience working with the public (waitressing, retail sales, etc.)
  • Experience working in a laboratory
  • Experience with spreadsheets
