Student Workers

If you see these students around campus, feel free to stop and chat with them!

Paul Baker '20

Hometown: Boxford, MA

Majors: Business and Psychology

I love giving my time to others and my favorite event that I've ever been a part of has been Relay For Life because of how many people cancer effects and how many people this event helps. I play for the SLU football team and consider football to be a passion of mine. During my free time I love spending time with my dogs and family. Something unique that I think I have experienced has been working as a security guard at concert venues where I got to see over 75 concerts.

Ella Charlesworth '21

Hometown: Rochester, NY

Major: Sociology

Minor: Gender & Sexuality Studies, Public Health

Ella has been working for Volunteer Services since her first year at SLU. She loves planning events through our office (such as Make a Difference Day!) and helping with alternative break programming. At SLU, Ella has participated in two CBL courses, co-founded Planned Parenthood Generation Action, and is an Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassador. You can also find Ella working as an Admissions Ambassador, so if you see her giving a tour around campus make sure to say hi!

Carmen Libombo '21

Hometown: Maputo, Mozambique

Majors: International Economics-Multilanguages and Business in the Liberal Arts

Minor: Statistics

Like Albert Einstein once said, ''Only a life lived in the service to others is worth living''.  On that note, and in the spirit of Ubuntu, it is with pleasure that I get to serve our community and work for the Volunteer Services team. I am an international student originally from Mozambique, passionate about social impact in education and racial justice. The Giving Tree and the Relay for Life are my favorite events, because we get to see a lot of people coming together, with a lot of compassion, humanity and the little they have, to support our community. For me, that is powerful on its own. When I am not working for Volunteer Services, I serve as a Community Assistant to first-year dorms, as a Philanthropic Advisor to the Student Alumni Association, and as an intern for the Language Resource Center. During my free time, I like to spend time with friends and family while cooking, dancing, and listening to great music. If you ever see me around, do not hesitate to say hi!
