Job Description: 

Objectively describe the tasks and responsibilities for this job, either in narrative form or by listing each task or responsibility.

 Under supervision, stabilize the collections

  • remove paper clips, staples, rubber bands, etc.
  • do surface cleaning
  • humidify curled or folded documents
  • copy any particularly fragile or ephemeral material (i.e. newsprint, faint carbon copies) onto acid-free paper
  • place materials in protective enclosures such as acid-free folders, photo sleeves, phase boxes

 Enter collection listings into the computer using a variety of word processing software.

  Prepare alumni reunion exhibits annually.

  Maintain stacks in the Rare Book Room and the Archives: shelve and shift.

  Construct phase boxes for materials too brittle or rare to bind.

  Photocopy materials for users of the papers and collect payment.

  Participates in digital scanning and html web projects, as appropriate.
