2025 Frank P. Piskor Lecture Featuring Dr. Amanda Oldacre
St. Lawrence University proudly announces the 2025 Frank P. Piskor Lecture, presented by Dr. Amanda Oldacre, Associate Professor of Chemistry. Her lecture, "Investigating the Degradation of Microplastic Pollution Using Solar and Electrical Energy," will highlight innovative research on one of today's most pressing environmental challenges.
In this lecture, Dr. Oldacre will explain how we can use a technique that combines light and electricity, known as photo-electrochemistry, to break down microplastic pollutants. This method uses a light-activated catalyst to help degrade microplastics into harmless products like carbon dioxide and water. The lecture will focus on the assembly, characterization, and stability of the proposed degradation system.
Join us on Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. in Griffiths 123 (Harlan Holladay Lecture Hall) for this insightful presentation.
Light refreshments will be served.
