The St. Lawrence campus is a community in itself—its own thriving small town. Our students, staff, and professors pour their hearts and hard work into making the experience here an exciting and enriching one.
Mountains of Events & Activities
No matter what your passions and favorite pastimes are, you will find something you can be part of at St. Lawrence. In addition to formal ways to get involved, such as joining clubs, teams and service groups, you’ll find things to do nearly every day and evening on campus.
Here are a few highlights of how our students keep busy:
- Attend free movies in the Student Center each weekend
- Enjoy (or even perform!) live music at the Java Barn
- Snowshoe, cross-country ski, or ice skate right on campus
- Shop at our student-run thrift store
- Start the day with sunrise yoga on the quad
Like Doing the Organizing?
Many clubs offer you the chance to lead, plan and host activities. But if you’re the event-planner type, you might consider getting involved with a few organizations that handle campus-wide programming:
Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE)
ACE keeps campus energized with movies, concerts, comedians, and other entertainment events.
The Thelomathesian Society (“Thelmo”)
Thelmo is the governing entity of the St. Lawrence University student body. Among its many roles is managing student activity fund requests from official campus organizations.
Student Employment
Some on-campus positions involve helping departments and offices plan, organize and run events, such as roles in the Student Activities & Leadership office or in our arts venues.
Clubs & Organizations
Find student groups related to academics, advocacy and social justice, faith and culture, sports and recreation, service and leadership, and others. Or do what many students have done before: create your own!
Volunteer Opportunities
Our big-hearted students spend countless hours each year helping others. They build and restore houses, serve healthy meals, mentor elementary students, raise money for good causes, and much more.
Intramural & Club Sports
Get involved, stay active, and have fun! Between intramurals and our numerous club sports, Laurentians make good use of our fields, courts, trails, and other recreational facilities.
Leadership Experiences
You’ll find many ways to lead and inspire at St. Lawrence, from orienting first-year students when they arrive on campus to representing your class in Thelmo, our student government association.
Arts & Performance
Join the cast or crew of a mainstage or Black Box theatrical production. Perform in a music ensemble, including the jam-session-based improv lab. Exhibit your art artwork, share your writing with Laurentian Magazine, or enter a video-making competition.
