After a successful hockey career at the New Hampton School, he followed other Huskies including former Saints head coaches Joe Marsh and Mike McShane in landing at St. Lawrence. A 1983 draft pick of the New York Islanders, McGeough was a natural leader on and off the ice and helped solidify the program’s turnaround in the mid-1980s. His leadership within and loyalty to the Laurentian community stands out to all who know him.
As a player in 1988, McGeough was both a First-Team All-ECAC Tournament selection and the Saints’ Most Valuable Player after totaling 27 points on two goals and a career-high 25 assists. McGeough currently serves on the Executive Committee of the St. Lawrence Hockey Alumni Association Executive Board of Directors.
