Juror
This year’s juror is John Morrow. John has exhibited work across the United States and has been featured in several publications. He spent decades as an arts educator and is now entering his sixth decade of prolific painting. John offers the following statement:
"My first and greatest inspiration as an artist has always been nature. As a young boy I would spend time at my uncle’s camps in remote parts of the Adirondacks. The forest has a magic quality that feeds curiosity and provides serenity.
My work has been influenced by many artists over the years including: Andrew Wyeth, Richard Schmid, Edward Hopper, Frederic Remington, many of the Impressionists, and artists of The Hudson River School.
I work in watercolor, oil and acrylic, often choosing the media that best suits my subject. Experimentation is an important aspect of work that keeps me from being stagnant.
Much of my work features recurring themes such as the relationship between man and nature and how time plays the dominant role.
Ultimately, art is a form of universal communication that connects the artist with the viewer, and there is a kind of satisfaction knowing that that will continue long after I am gone."
