Anthro Faculty-Student Team Examined 3,700-Year-Old Pregnant Skeleton
Associate Professor of Anthropology Mindy Pitre and students in her Forensic Anthropology course conducted the preliminary skeletal analysis of a 3,700-year-old woman and her fetus unearthed in Egypt.
The faculty-student team built the biological profile and examined the remains for pathology and trauma.
Pitre told Forbes magazine: "While it is impossible to determine the cause or timing of death of both the woman and child, it is clear that the woman's pelvis showed signs of misalignment, suggesting possible injury or health issues during life."
